Was tricky, I built it on a gaming laptop using Ubuntu 24... didn't work on the server, so tried 22 and also didn't work... but Ubuntu 20 did the trick The chaps in the data centre said it was something to do with the way GPUs are virtualised, they can't distribute drivers as part of the OS
