Pausing Cluster and Managing Data Without Termination

TLDR Stephano inquired about pausing a cluster and retaining data. Kishore Nallan acknowledged that it's currently not possible but agreed it would be a beneficial feature.

Is there any way to stop a cluster without terminating it?
Is there any way to stop/terminate a cluster without losing all the data on it?

I think this is a really useful feature, I can stop the ec2 on Amazon or put it to sleep so that during development I can have boxes that keep my data but don’t end up costing too much in the case they need to be stopped for a short time.

Also there should be a way to move data from one box to another or at least move all the data offline for some time, in the case of migrations

Agree. This will be a useful feature to have. Having some way of optionally putting data in cold storage for future use.
